Bio



Bill Boyd is the Director of Membership for the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers. Prior to this position, Bill was a Senior Vice President for the CNA Financial Corporation.  At CNA, Bill was responsible for the World Wide Risk Control function which included a professional staff of 300 professionals in the delivery of Customer Occupational Health and Safety Services.

 

Bill has been a member of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers since 1997.  He has been an active volunteer leader in IISE, primarily focusing his efforts in the Ergonomics community.  He has attended and supported the Applied Ergonomics Conference since its inception in 1998, serving as a leader in all aspects of that event.  He is a past Chair of the Conference as well as the Leadership Team, and currently chairs the Student Participation Committee.  He served as keynoter for the AEC in 2015.

 

Bill has also been active in other professional associations.  He is a member of the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene.  He has served on the Board of Directors for the Board of Certified Professional Ergonomists and has been an American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) member for more than 30 years.  Bill is a previous delegate to the National Safety Council and a past member of the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Commercial Insurance Council.

 

Bill is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Professional Ergonomist and an Underwriters Laboratory Certified Risk Professional.  Bill received his B.S. in Chemistry degree from Austin Peay State University, and a M.S. degree in Occupational Safety from the University of Tennessee.

 

He has many years experience in the ergonomics and health and safety professions.  Bill is frequently asked to speak at the National and State level on issues involving quality, productivity and the impact in Health and Safety.
