The OR Nominating Committee is making a call for nominations for dynamic directors (two-year terms) and the position of president-elect (three-year term and must be a current or past board member). All nominees must be current OR members of IISE. Students are not eligible. Members from both academia and industry are encouraged.
The new term will begin on June 1. Board members are expected to be an active participant in monthly board conference calls and to participate in various initiatives, some of which are led by committees working in partnership with the full board.
Board members are also expected to attend the IISE Annual Conference and to participate in the Town Hall meeting held during the annual conference.
To submit a nomination, complete the OR Nomination form and send to Kathy Gamboa by February 5, 2021.

The IISE Operational Excellence Division invites nominations for the 2021 Operational Excellence Division Teaching Award. This award is presented each year at the IISE Annual Conference to recognize one or two faculty members who have developed innovative and effective approaches to teaching process improvement concepts (e.g. lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
A full description of the award criteria and the required nomination materials is available at the link below.
Please note that one of the required materials is a nomination letter from a faculty colleague or a student who has taken the course.
The nomination deadline is March 1, 2021 and the materials should be submitted to me via email. Award winner(s) will be selected by a committee, and the winners will be notified by March 31, 2021

IISE/Rockwell Undergraduate Student Simulation Competition
Fall session entries now being accepted.
Encourage a team of three undergraduate students to solve a “real-world” situational case study using Rockwell Software’s Arena simulation software. Your team could win the first place prize of $5,000.
Each team will have approximately eight weeks to develop its solution for preliminary judging. Three teams will be chosen to compete in the finals in New Orleans, La. at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo October 31-November 3, 2020. The winning team will be announced at the conference. Three finalist teams receive $1,250 each for travel to the finals, complimentary conference registration, cash awards and certificates. Managing Editor Keith Albertson received news that ISE is a regional finalist in the 2020 Azbee Awards of Excellence! Keith’s superior writing and reporting skills earned the win with his article “Freight expectations: Growing port seeks logistic expertise” in the March 2019 issue of ISE. Keith continues former ISE Managing Editor Michael Hughes' - now IISE's manager of marketing - winning tradition as this is the third year in a row that ISE has earned Azbee wins. Azbees are presented by the American Society of Business Publication Editors.

Three seats were filled on the 14-person board of trustees: Bopaya Bidanda, Ph.D., as president-elect; Ronald Askin, Ph.D., as senior vice president, publications; and Rohan Shirwaiker, Ph.D., as senior vice president, technical operations. New officers are elected by IISE professional members and serve for three years. Terms begin April 1.
