IISE/Rockwell Undergraduate Student Simulation Competition
Fall session entries now being accepted.
Encourage a team of three undergraduate students to solve a “real-world” situational case study using Rockwell Software’s Arena simulation software. Your team could win the first place prize of $5,000.
Each team will have approximately eight weeks to develop its solution for preliminary judging. Three teams will be chosen to compete in the finals in New Orleans, La. at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo October 31-November 3, 2020. The winning team will be announced at the conference. Three finalist teams receive $1,250 each for travel to the finals, complimentary conference registration, cash awards and certificates. Creating Cultures that Support Full Potential Performance/Operational Excellence ... The context for operational excellence, an organization's culture, is often treated as a "given" or pre-existing condition or constraint, non-treatable variable. The OR Nominating Committee is making a call for nominations for the position of president-elect (three year term and must be a current or past board member). All nominees must be current OR members of IISE. Students are not eligible.
The new term will begin on June 1. Board members are expected to be an active participant in monthly board conference calls and to participate in various initiatives, some of which are led by committees working in partnership with the full board.
Board members are also expected to attend the IISE Annual Conference and to participate in the Town Hall meeting held during the annual conference.

Managing Editor Keith Albertson received news that ISE is a regional finalist in the 2020 Azbee Awards of Excellence! Keith’s superior writing and reporting skills earned the win with his article “Freight expectations: Growing port seeks logistic expertise” in the March 2019 issue of ISE. Keith continues former ISE Managing Editor Michael Hughes' - now IISE's manager of marketing - winning tradition as this is the third year in a row that ISE has earned Azbee wins. Azbees are presented by the American Society of Business Publication Editors.

Leaders for 2020 have been chosen in the IISE annual election. IISE CEO Don Greene announced the results. Three seats were filled on the 14-person board of trustees: Bopaya Bidanda, Ph.D., as president-elect; Ronald Askin, Ph.D., as senior vice president, publications; and Rohan Shirwaiker, Ph.D., as senior vice president, technical operations. New officers are elected by IISE professional members and serve for three years. Terms begin April 1.
IISE CEO Don Greene expressed gratitude for the grant on behalf of the industrial and systems engineering profession. “IISE is grateful for the long-standing support of The UPS Foundation.
