Nathan Hurle, senior director for enterprise continuous improvement at Cleveland Clinic, has died, according to a spokesperson for the clinic. He was 47.Hurle was a keynote presenter in February 2021 at the Healthcare Systems Process Improvement Conference.

Congrats! For the fourth consecutive year, the editorial flagship of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers - ISE magazine - has been awarded Azbee honors by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE).
Dr. Robert (Bob) Davis, 74, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on Feb. 23, 2021. Davis joined AIIE (American Institute of Industrial Engineers, as IISE was originally known through 1981) in the early 1970s and became an IISE Fellow in 1989.

Due to multiple requests, the submission deadline has been extended to April 15, 2021, for a special issue of the IISE Transactions journal on Data Analytics and Decision Making for Internet-of-Things (IoT) Enabled Systems.
All papers are to be submitted through http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/iietransactions. Select “Special Issue” under Manuscript Category of your submission. All manuscripts must be prepared according to the IISE Transactions publication guidelines.

The OR Nominating Committee is making a call for nominations for dynamic directors (two-year terms) and the position of president-elect (three-year term and must be a current or past board member). All nominees must be current OR members of IISE. Students are not eligible. Members from both academia and industry are encouraged.
The new term will begin on June 1. Board members are expected to be an active participant in monthly board conference calls and to participate in various initiatives, some of which are led by committees working in partnership with the full board.
Board members are also expected to attend the IISE Annual Conference and to participate in the Town Hall meeting held during the annual conference.
To submit a nomination, complete the OR Nomination form and send to Kathy Gamboa by February 12, 2021.

The IISE Operational Excellence Division invites nominations for the 2021 Operational Excellence Division Teaching Award. This award is presented each year at the IISE Annual Conference to recognize one or two faculty members who have developed innovative and effective approaches to teaching process improvement concepts (e.g. lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
A full description of the award criteria and the required nomination materials is available at the link below.
Please note that one of the required materials is a nomination letter from a faculty colleague or a student who has taken the course.
