There’s no better time than now to take stock and hit your goals

As we race through fall, we find ourselves once again on the backside of another year with a clear view of 2023. While it’s a repetition and a cadence we all experience year after year, it never ceases to amaze me how time flies.


Of course, time is a common denominator in our profession, from time-motion study, just-in-time delivery to standard time for work management. Overall, time management is crucial in any field and for life in general.


With 2023 in our crosshairs, it’s a good time to assess how you’re doing on your personal and professional goals. Using the SMART principle can help you stay on track, tweak and reset your goals as you start the calendar countdown anew in January.


We use the SMART method for IISE leadership goal setting and monitoring. If you don’t already use SMART, you might want to give it a try. Make sure your goals are:


S:
Specific.

M: Measurable.

A: Achievable.

R: Realistic.

T: Timely.
